PT. Riau Airlines is the only airline in Indonesia's local governments. The company was founded in 2002 with the shareholders own the Riau province and every city / county in the province of Riau (Riau islands at that time still an integral part of Riau province).
At the beginning of its establishment, Riau Airlines (RAL) is focused to become the air bridge that connects the areas in Riau, which does have a lot of airport infrastructure in cities and counties in both the Riau mainland and the Riau archipelago.
Along with the progress of time and market demands, CRD began to open up lines of potential new flights, connecting cities in Riau with other cities outside of Riau even to neighboring Malaysia.
PT. Riau Airlines formed on March 5, 2002 which was passed on Regional Regulation (Perda) No.5 No.7 sheet regions on the establishment of PT. Riau Airlines by the House of Representatives (DPRD) of Riau Province.
At the date March 12, 2002, PT. Riau Airlines was officially established, which is marked by the signing of Deed number 14 by the Governor of Riau, at that time Mr Saleh Djasit, SH, before the Notary Mr. Asman Jonah, SH. In the deed was appointed Provincial Secretary Mr Arsyad Rahim, BA as President Commissioner of PT. Riau Airlines, and as the commissioners appointed Assistant Ekbang and Welfare Drs. H. Asparaini Rashad, and Mr. Wan Galib, then Jonah Bachri believed to be the Managing Director.
